With temps in the 60's this afternoon, Mark was able to get back to working on NKP 471. Here are his photos of the stencil for "Nickel" being applied, then the results and finally in the last photo, placing some protection over the stencil until he can get back to it.

The museum is also pulling up some donated rail from an abandoned siding, so that it putting a "crimp" in his caboose work right now.

Les - couple questions.... Did you have the red and gray paint matched to the original color? If so, what brand and color formula did you use? I’d like to add it to the cross reference.

Eric -

Next time I'm at the museum, I'll try to remember to check on the paint for you. Not sure when that will be; dismantling track these days!

Mark had some good days to work on NKP 471 this week and has furnished the following two photos of his progress. I asked him about the red paint and he said it was Van Sickle brand known as Massey Ferguson Red. Forgot to ask him about the light gray paint.

If you go back to the beginning of this thread, you will note that I included a photograph of the "opposite side" of NKP # 471 and stated that it had not weathered as badly as the south facing side and that only the south facing side would be repainted. Well, after Mark finished with that south facing side, that "opposite side" no longer looked that good and thus he decided to repaint that side too! Here is a photo of what he has accomplished thus far this spring, with the light gray band finished and the first coat of red applied.

Mark has now finished the "opposite side" of NKP 471 as can be seen in the attached photo.
And with this photo, we can now put this thread "to bed"!
