Now that they are moving equipment on the EBT and ballasting track; there are videos showing up on You Tube and Facebook.

One of the first cars to move was the M-1 gas car. Does anyone know if it still has an antique gas engine or does it have a modern Diesel for power? The car was built by J.G. Brill in 1927.

It still has the original gas engine.

It's fascinating to ride M-1. The Engineer has to separately control the engine and the excitation, as well as transition the 4 motors. EBT used to charge extra to ride M-1 and needed to put folding chairs in the baggage apartment to accommodate the overflow.

The M-1 is all original, the body built at EBT shops from Brill plans. The power pack, controls,auxiliaries and trucks came from Brill/Westinghouse. Essentially a 3/4 scale Brill model 250.

Motor transition is manual, generator excitation is automatic.

Thank you for the news; I am glad to hear that the M-1 is still a narrow gauge antique!
