Does anyone have any documentation on the old EMD mechanical voltage regulators?

All I'm able to locate is a basic wiring diagram for them. I'm specifically looking for adjustment instructions.

I believe there is an ex-Southern Railway locomotive maintenance document on line (it contains the adjustment instructions for setting the Woodward-governor solenoids in some detail) and this might cover any unusual voltage-regulator settings.

A common battery capacity for locomotives with 74V nominal electrical-system voltage is 32 cells, 64 nominal volts. By comparison a typical automobile alternator develops 13.8V and charges a nominal 12V battery, very close to the same ratio. I would not be surprised to find that any voltage-regulator adjustment or modulation in charging to follow, say, typical lead-acid 'best practice' would be at least analogous to that for mechanical regulation on older automobiles with generators... something that the auto restoration community might have distinctive competence in advising.

I think you're looking for MI 570.

Let me know if you need a copy.

Yeah that sounds like the right one, if you could send it to me that would be great!
