I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me. I’m doing some research into two steam era passenger trains that ran in Texas. “The Angelo” from San Angelo to Fort Worth/Dallas, and the California Special from Clovis NM to Temple, TX. The time period I’m most interested in would be the few weeks before and into the Christmas rush. So heavy traffic volumes. The information I’m seeking is mostly consist and locomotive assignments during that time, or generalized information about the types of equipment used, train lengths during the rush, and the types of locomotives used on those two routes. Generally the years I’m looking for are 1924 to 1948 or so.

I’m also looking for timetables of these two routes during this period as well.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Mike S.

A resource might be the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society.

I think it's time you give GBL a ring! I'm sure he'd know.

Brian, I’ve checked that website already and am having some issues with finding the right information.

Zak, GBL and I have already talked a few times actually. He’s been helpful with types of equipment and understanding the break up of both trains as they crossed Texas, but he doesn’t know about engine assignments and the like.
