Hi All
I was just up at the Strasburg Railroad website, and the N&W # 611 with be returning from May 2021 to Oct 2021.

I would suggest going to the Strasburg website, to see all dates the locomotive will be there and ticket prices.

This is good news for the 611 as with NS and CSX not willing to host mainline steam her ability to earn a living is severely limited.

Based upon the strong turnout during her previous visit she should generate good crowds and produce badly needed revenues for both her and her host railroad.

Here's wishing them every success and lots of sold out events.

Hello,

Hoping they add days for the 611. All three days engineer seats are sold.

I have pre-approval from the other half on an engineer seat as long as she can be in the jump seat on the same trip.

Ready to reserve! Hoping we can catch when the days are added. We would like to support the Strasburg and 611.

Great news!

Regards,

Randy

This is great to see. I had a great time riding behind 611 and photographing on the Pete Lerro trips.

I’ll try to make it up there again!

Had a blast last time 611 was at Strasburg. I hope they put the original single beam headlight in during the entire stay (compared to the dual beam headlight since it's not mainline trackage).

Hello,

Looking forward to next week. Looks like the 611 is in North Carolina today for an event?

https://www.nctransportationmuseum.org/

She will need to put 450 miles behind her in the next several days.

Regards.

Randy

Hi Randy,

611 spends much of the year at Spencer. The reason for that is because currently Roanoke VA (which owns 611) currently has no indoor storage/maintenance facility for 611, nor any place to run 611. Spencer offers all of that, so the 611 folks and the transportation museum have worked out a win-win scenario.

John,

Thank you for sharing this information and was unaware of the arrangement.

Perhaps this should be on the railfan thread but perhaps since it’s related to the cab experience which helps support the Strasburg and 611 in preservation, it qualifies for interchange!? ;-)

Thanks again.

Regards,

Randy

ASR is excited as well as this has afforded us an opportunity to offer one engineer's spot and one fireman's spot for auction. We will be posting the link to where you can buy your raffle tickets here shortly giving you a chance to not only support the N&W 611 and VMT but also help ASR raise some much needed additional funds to continue the restoration of Reading 2100.

Sincerely,

Rob Gardner

A forum over on TrainOrders has a photo with the auger screw bent. How would that happen and how in the world will it be fixed?

Small update, reportedly the auger snapped in half and parts won’t be available until next month...

what would be the most efficient way to replace the auger?

Is there something off the shelf that could be adapted or is it a truly custom machined piece?
