Post subject:  Superheater Flues

Does anyone have a source for 5.5" O.D. x .165 min. wall SA-178 Grade A superheater flues? We have been coming up dry.

We have been considering ordering a mill run to solve that problem proactively. The issue there is that a mill run is enough for several boilers, so it would be helpful if we could have partners to share in the initial order, and so reduce the number of flues that we would be storing long term until customers find the need for them.

If anyone would be interested in throwing in with us on an mill run order, please contact Ted at ted.wickert@strasburgrailroad.com with information on the number and length of flues that you would be interested in, as well as a deadline as to when you would be needing the flues delivered.

Of course, pricing will be dependent on the size of the eventual order, the going rate for steel at the time, and the lengths available vs. the lengths of flues needed in order to minimize waste. Pre-orders will benefit from savings compared to flues ordered after we have had to store them.

We do offer swaging service for superheater flues, and so can handle that as needed.

Of course, if there is currently a ready source of superheater flues out there that I am not aware of, then please share, and I will forget about my solution in search of a problem.
