Yup. Pennies per pound if your talking steel. Actually, my point was: You send your cars out for repairs to a rebuilder. Retaining ownership of the scrapped parts makes no sense. What are you going to do with it? Load it into one of your repaired cars and have shipped back home or to a scrapper? Every time you handle it or even do paperwork to ship it, it’s worth less. If the rebuilding is going to generate a huge amount of scrap, the rebuilder would have a credit in his estimate before bidding the project. I wouldn’t want the added expense to deal with.
