Looks like you can get out your wallet to CMO Dave D. He looks to be the one posing on the cab deck, and doesn't seem to be protesting having his picture taken.

Some of you guys are making a mountain out a mouse turd. The place is a tourist attraction afterall.

This man gets it. I don't understand the hostility. Some people get steamed up more than the locomotives at Strasburg do.

How dare you mention that Strasburg steams up their locomotives! That’s private property! Pretty sure you’re up for disciplinary actions now! ;)

I'm not necessarily concerned about a leaked photo. But making snide comments ("Get over yourself. Sounds like you just want to be a tattle tale") to someone who could very well have a heavy hand in this project is just silly. Don't bite the hand which feeds you, per se.

Nonetheless, great news for sure out of Orbisonia and congratulations to all involved!

Pete Lerro just sent a “Save the date” for East Broad Top charters this October. Here goes the bank account :-p

This is why RYPN never has, nor ever will have any respect in the industry. It's why every museum and volunteer organization I've ever been a part of uses RYPN as the butt of all their jokes.

Remember, all I did was make a simple statement, and all you fellas jumped on me like I'm the bad guy. Then I tried to explain, with common sense and logic (albeit short and sweet), and then you started calling me names and defaming my character.

So, I made a mountain out of a mouse turd? I'm ruining the industry? You best take a look in the mirror folks. That is, if you can stop polishing your participation trophy long enough to take a breath of fresh air.

I’m on your side of this battle, mate. I honestly only come to this forum to see what kinds of comments come from people. This has been a fantastic thread because of how people are acting.

Page 1 was all positive comments until "RailMech3" and "extra16south" weighed in.

Note that just because EBT didn't advertise the event doesn't mean that it was a secret. After all, they have a roundhouse with smoke jacks and they could have kept the engine indoors if they didn't want anyone to see it.

Kelly,

I respect you and your accomplishments. My comments are geared towards those who ALWAYS poke fun at others, or have to be the bigger/badder person. That is why this forum is a laughing stock. There are several pages on other social media where posts get brought up from this forum and everyone laughs and shakes their head.

Rail preservation is a popularity contest. It’s no different than high school. Someone is always going to brag about being better.

I applaud EBT on their major accomplishments. I believe they are doing everything right by keeping most of the dirty details under wraps. The public doesn’t need to know what goes on inside the shop every day. You know this as well as I do. Because you’ve done the same thing at Strasburg.

So hoping on someone else’s case about a picture is way ridiculous. Many people in the know, have been told “no photos” or “no social media”. So someone wanting to know who spilled the beans, that’s very legitimate.

As I recall, the photo ban was for tours inside the roundhouse stall where the overhaul was being done. The photo in question was outdoors, and the engine would have been visible from the parking lot.

Photographers have every expectation to honor the property owners wishes when they are given special access. Again, EBT is not public property, nor can the scene that was the subject of the photo be seen or photographed from public property. I'm not sure what the misunderstanding here is that a person was asked to not share photos for a short time in return for being allowed to be there is expected to not share them. If it were my railroad, I would be unhappy as well. Anyone who can't understand understand this would be the type of person I'd expect to find back past the "no trespassing" signs cameras clicking away, and becoming indignant when told to leave. (Can you tell I've run into plenty of these types of railfans before?)

This. Exactly. I’d consider it a breach of trust. This is why we don’t let anyone wander around our yard unescorted. We set rules. They got broken. Not for marketing reasons as possible in this case, but for safety reasons.

Now for just a tad bit of snark. I’d be more than happy to trace the image to the originating Facebook account at my standard business rate. Or post an offer. Some of us here work in that there interwebs business and we can do some of that kind of stuff.

Pete Lerro was there.... was it him? You gonna have him banned from the property?
He posted video from about the same angle.

Considering the lunacy this has devolved into, and of some of the people commenting on here, it seems more like a liability to offer up links to personal social media accounts to livid foamers.
