Post subject:  old cat engines

hello old cat guys. i had time to look up a old book diesel engine cat. vol. 8 -1944.cat had 4 size cyl. engines many parts are the same for the 4,6,8 cyl. eng. the d8800 is 70 hp.continuous 4 cyl. 5 3/4" x 8" @900 rpm. liners piston rings should be same as on the d17000 eng. note the old pistons should 6 rings and are not oil cooled. new ones have 4 rings and are oil cooled. the old liners have 2 seals new ones have 3 seals. a common injector is #b1730 . use the odd looking wrench #9b2020 or 7b4973 to remove injectors. NOTE you can Not pull piston and rod up through liner on that engine. just like the alco 244. if you need more part # or info e mail me i will try to help. merry christmass bb
