always wonder what will be the final outcome on the Mexican 4-8-4 in storage in New Hope PA
I used to make it a stop on the way home .....never any progress in 20 +years,hopefully will buy it!

We are still alive, as much as we can be with four active members. We still maintain our ALCO Heritage Exhibit at the Walter Elwood Museum in Amsterdam and put on our annual "Rails Along the Mohawk" model train show fundraiser every year. The 3028 is a much more complicated situation than we could have ever imagined and progress towards the locomotives secure future has been slow. We are still working behind the scenes to that end though. It would seem that like many other organizations, survival is our most pressing goal.

Thanks for your reply, Matt. Since I live in Colorado, and won't have enough money left for rebuilding #3028 after fixing up my little #6, I'm not sure how much help I'll be to you. But, there are young folks around the country that have contacted me because they are tending toward being Niagraholics, even though they never saw them in service. There's a good chance I can recruit some of them.

Yes, I know the politics are quite involved, and I know better than to meddle in them. The real tragedy is that Richard Steinbrenner didn't live long enough to take care of the politics AND the funding. I'm just an engine driver and roundhouse worker, and there was no way possible for me to take his place. However, next time I go back east to visit the JC McHugh shop, I plan to visit New Hope just to see what I can see.

Heard a rumor they were holding another show, a fall show, Oct. 16, not sure why they'd do one the same day as the GSME picked for their fall show in Batavia NY, but I've also yet to see a mailing or anything so maybe just a story.

There is a 220 mile buffer zone between Batavia and Amsterdam so I think that's far enough not to conflict, but that's just my opinion, I guess.
