Twenty years ago, Congress actually contemplated ordering the SOI to send the Big Boy to UT to remain there for fifteen years, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Gold Spike. See page 249. https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/BIL ... 5569ih.pdf (b) RELOCATION.—On or before January 1, 2004, 19 the Secretary of the Interior shall relocate Union Pacific 20 Big Boy #4012, located on the date of the enactment of 21 this section at the Steamtown National Historic Site in 22 Scranton, Pennsylvania, to the Crossroads of the West in 23 Ogden, Utah, to remain in Ogden, Utah, until December 24 31, 2019. I wonder if the sponsors thought anything about the logistics of this. |
