Post subject:  Signal light with a F on the lens

I recently acquired an Adlake 1142 electric signal light. That model appears to have been
designed to be used in semaphores replacing oil lamps. Mine had a different use, it has a lens with an F on it. The only use I can find for an F is to signal that a rockslide detector has tripped. Have any of you heard of any other uses for such a signal?
