At trpahouston.org, you can sign up for the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel and Texas Railway Preservation Association ticket raffle! All proceeds of ticket raffle admission go towards the upcoming -quiet and fast- relocation of 982 to its restoration sight, tooling, and new insurances!
The raffle is for tickets to ride the Grand Canyon Railway behind one of their steam locomotives, which will be using 982's actual whistle! The trip is May 4th 2024 so get your chance early. Hear the echo of history, and ride a premier railway all in one!
$12.00 = (1) Raffle ticket Submission
$19.82 = (2) Raffle ticket submissions
$36.51 = (4) Raffle ticket submissions

So... pay $12 for the chance to win a $70 ticket? Not much value there.

Sounds like a cool trip to ride - shame they couldn't have made a partnership with the Grand Canyon where so much of each ticket goes to the restoration or something better than this scheme.

This sounds like you'd be paying $12 for a chance to help restore T&NO #982, with the possibility of getting a free trip on the GCRy. That's a good value !!!
