There are some of us that remember that in the 1970s, British Rail commissioned and introduced the Class 43 HST (High Speed Train) trainsets for revenue service, mostly on the Western Region and East Coast Main Line to Scotland. These trainsets (the end power cars and the Mk.3 coaches between them) survived the denationalisation of British Rail into Network Rail and Train Operating Companies, and like their contemporaries in the USA the EMD F40PH's, some are still in service for their third or fourth operators after complete rebuilds.

We are pleased to announce that every Wednesday in August we will be running a GWR HST Castle Class set, courtesy of our friends at Great Western Railway!
The power cars in use are 43154 and 43155, which are currently being stored at the West Somerset Railway for GWR.
This is a great opportunity to travel to Minehead to take part in our Wild Wednesdays!
The HST will depart Bishops Lydeard at 11am, arriving in Minehead at 12:15pm. It will depart Minehead at 15:25, arriving back to Bishops Lydeard at 17:05.
