I seriously doubt that moving the locomotive in that manner would cause any harm. Remember that the only weight you have to contend with is that of the frame itself, drivers and rods. The boiler would be supported directly above the location of the dollies. A locomotive's frame is very rigid in construction and is designed to withstand tremendous forces associated with uneven track and piston thrusts. Remember also that the frame rails are vertical members which have girder strength since the tie bars under the driving boxes effectivley turn the frame into a giant box beam. <br><br>
