Post subject:  RFQ for Trolley line upgrade, Kingston NY

An RFQ has been published seeking Professional Services To Provide Preliminary Plans For The Reconstruction And Electrification Of The Train And Trolley Tracks In The City Of Kingston.

"The City of Kingston is seeking experienced, qualified and innovative consultant services to evaluate the existing condition of the railroad trackage and right of way currently owned by the City and leased to the Trolley Museum of New York and prepare recommendations and preliminary plans for the reconstruction of the rail line and the electrification of that line.

"The objective of this study will be to provide a planning level examination for the design and cost of bringing the track facilities and right of way up to standards for the operation of a tourism oriented excursion; and to provide a plan and cost estimates for constructing and operating an electrified overhead line for the operation of trolley cars on the Museum's roster. Refurbishment of the trackage will be a service-based determination, considering an analysis of conditions and ridership demand assumptions: inventory and assessment of the rails and trackbed, the rolling stock, service areas, service operator and manager, service ownership and maintenance, and proposed schedule of service.

"Included in the scope of work are requirements for design concepts, conditions/assumptions analyses, typical construction specifications and cross sections, electrification wiring plans, plans for generation of or transforming available electric current to 600v DC, and cost projections for reconstruction and cost of electric operation."
