Post subject:  FEBT Rockhill work session Feb. 2-3, 2008

The second FEBT Rockhill work session of 2008 will take place Saturday and Sunday, February 2-3, 2008.

We will work from 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and from 9 am to 4 pm Sunday. We'll meet at the Rockhill shops at 9 am.

Our activities will be heavily dependent on weather. If it is inclement, we have a number of projects we can work on in our HEATED paint shop.

First, here is what we won't work on! For the first time in many sessions, there will be no work on hopper 802 because IT IS DONE. Congratulations to the hopper crew on completing our most complicated project to date. This is an impressive piece of work.

BOXCAR 168
We will take up the floor over the second bolster for inspection. We also have welding to do. We will continue the work of planing and mortising the floor sills and wooden side posts. (This is good inside work if the weather is bad..) Bring power drills, hand-held circular saws, and carpenter tools. Lee Rainey will lead this project.

COMBINE 14
We will continue the planing of structural lumber for this car. This job uses the planer and table saw. The hopper crew (have to find them a new name now!) will begin work on rebuilding the south platform and the broken truss rods. Steve Jacobs will lead the platform and truss work and Lee Rainey will lead the planing.

FOUNDRY
The Boilerhouse Rats will replace additional floor planks around the tour walk area near the east end of the wheel press and perform other needed maintenance tasks in the boilerhouse area. The crew will also continue planning for some larger repair tasks on the roof truss. Jim Bacon will lead this project.

MAIN SHOPS
If the weather is too cold for glazing, the crew will probably work removing sash and installing chipboard temporary panels. Chris Coleman will lead this job.

GARAGE
This crew will begin to install the tongue-and-groove stock prepared at the January session. Bill Adams will lead this job.

BRUSH
If we have enough volunteers, we will reactivate the brush crew.

LUNCH
The RTY beanery is expected to be open for lunches at this session. Plan $6 per lunch.

WEATHER
Visit www.accuweather.com and check the Rockhill zip code, 17249, for the latest weather.

GROUND RULES
To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.

Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an email in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.

See you there!
Lee
