The Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum is currently looking for as many as four pairs of 132RE to 110RE compromise joint bars for two siding projects. We have an immediate need for 2 of the 4 pair. While we would welcome a donation, we are willing to purchase them as well.

Please let us know if you can help us. Contact info available here or a PM on this board. Thanks!

Chris,

Talk to Cleveland Track Material, 216-641-4000. They make custom comp. joint bars. They will send you a form to be filled out that gives allowance for rail wear and bolt hole spacings for each size of rail. I have purchased many bars from these folks and have been very pleased, everytime.

Feel free to call if you have any questions

Did you find your comp bars? If not try broadening your search. For example, 105 Dudley has the same fishing as 110 RE. For a siding you can use joints for 100 RE or 100 RA . The fishing is close enough. You can also use 131 for 132. If your local FRA inspector does not like using joints not marked for the exact rail section grind off the old markings and stamp them for your section. The book says the joints have to be engineered to fit the rail. It does not say who has to do the engineering.

I wish I could help you with the joints but I have nothing on hand I can let go of that will fit.

Good luck with your search.

John,

Thanks for the note and additional information. We were able to find one set of the right 132 to 110 comp bars for our one switch project, but we are going to need to find another pair of the same size for another switch replacement project. So our search continues...

Regards,
Chris
