Post subject:  Army Steam Engine Available

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is accepting expressions of interest and proposals for the sale or transfer of steam locomotive 611, Baldwin 2-8-0, 1943, ex-U.S. Army. This locomotive was modified with an experimental installation of Franklin rotary cam poppet valves. The engine is disassembled but most of the major components are on hand. There is no tender tank, only a tender frame. The locomotive is surplus to TVRM's needs and does not fit our long term collections plan. Parties interested should indicate if they are a non-profit organization and provide some evidence of resources to move and care for the engine. No boiler survey has been done and TVRM will make no representations or warranties as to mechanical condition of any component. Direct inquiries to: Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, attention Alan Maples; you may contact by PM on this site. TVRM reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal based on the best interests of the organization and the artifact.
