Post subject:  10-6 sleeping cars

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is accepting expressions of interest and proposals for the sale or transfer of four 10-6 Pullman built Southern Railway sleeping cars. The cars are from the "River" series and are lightweight cars on four wheel trucks with roller bearings. These cars are in poor condition and are surplus to TVRM's needs. Note that while it may be possible to ship these cars on their own wheels, some brake components will need to be replaced and/or brought up to date. Also note that TVRM wishes to retain any Timken EE wheelsets and adaptor boxes, or receive equivalent value. Parties interested in any of these cars should indicate if they are a non-profit organization and provide some evidence of resources to move equipment on a timely basis. Proposals to dismantle cars on site will also be considered but must include provisions for abatement of asbestos or other hazards. Cars are stored in a secure location off site from our museum and inspection can be arranged by replying to this message. Serious inquiries only, please. Direct questions to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, attention: Alan Maples, by reply to this message or PM.
