Post subject:  USRA Hopper car parts wanted

The Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish, WA, recently acquired a 1922 Northern Pacific USRA clone hopper car (was NP 70025). This car was converted to company sand service car (NP 200412) in 1957 by adding a roof and four smaller round hatches. The museum would like to backdate this car to its original configuration. This project is relatively straightforward if we can find the appropriate doors and latching mechanisms. If anyone is scrapping an older USRA design hopper, please advise as we would like to obtain parts.

After our phone conversion I looked back in our records and I might have found some information on the USRA hopper car you have. The car probably had our Type-D mechanism on it when it was built. If you are still interested in this information e-mail or call.
