Post subject:  Wanted: Streetcar Trucks, Brill 27G1

I'm co chair of the committee to restore Streetcar 356 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While our restoration project and plan is taking place, we are trying to source out a set of Streetcar trucks, and also the 33" wheels. Phase 1 is to restore the Streetcar to a museum show piece, phase 2 is to restore the electric motors and ability to run again, if we find a suitable location for a heritage streetcar park.

Does anyone have any knowledge of Brill Trucks, or the ability to machine new ones? I know the Edmonton Radial Group can make them for a fee. Where there any trucks available with the Cleveland auction?

Also, are there suitable replacement trucks that could be used instead of the Brills?

Thanks for any help.

Reference website for the project is http://www.winnipegstreetcar.com

Brill 76E trucks are almost identical to Brill 27G trucks, and may be somewhat easier to find, as they were the standard truck used in New Orleans. I wish you good luck, but you are looking for a relatively rare and highly sought after item.

Thanks for the information, will look into it. Can you contact the New Orleans shop, or are they pretty much involved in just keeping the existing streetcars in New Orleans running? Does Gomaco make anything similar?
