The Swanton Pacific was built by the late Al Smith, and has three one-third scale Pacific type locomotives which originally ran at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. Mr. Smith deeded his ranch and railroad to California Polytechnic State University for use in forestry and agricultural education.
