BE SURE TO MARK FEBRUARY 12th & 13th
ON YOUR CALENDAR FOR
“CABIN FEVER DAYS” at
HARRIS RAILROAD SWITCH TOWER MUSEUM

- When the Super Bowl is over, do you suffer from football withdrawal?
- Do you ever suffer from a case of “cabin fever” after being penned up in the house during the short days of the winter months?
- Can’t wait for the weather to get better so you can head trackside to watch trains once again?
- Well, wait no longer! The Harrisburg Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society invites you to join us for our “Cabin fever day at Harris Tower” fund raising event.

No, this has nothing to do with the cabin cars (cabooses) that once brought up the tail end of freight trains. Instead, this will be a day to get out of the house and join fellow railroad buffs for a day of train watching from a safe and warm trackside location! Located at the corner of 7th and Walnut Streets in downtown Harrisburg, PA the tower is adjacent to very active railroad lines making it a perfect vantage point for railroad buffs to view and photograph dozens of Norfolk Southern and Amtrak trains each day as they pass by right outside the tower’s windows!

Admission is $10.00 per person per day with all funds going to support the Harrisburg NRHS’ preservation efforts. The tower will be open from 9:00 am to dusk. For roughly the price of a ticket to a two hour movie you can spend an entire day at Harris Tower enjoying your favorite hobby! Reservations must be made in advance and will be limited so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to watch and photograph the day’s rail traffic. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

Joining us from out of town? Make your reservation through The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast and take advantage of some really terrific room rates just for this event! If you’re not familiar with The Bridgeview it is a railfan oriented B&B located on the west shore of the Susquehanna River in scenic Marysville, PA (about 15 minutes from Harris Tower) and has a commanding view of the famous Rockville Bridge where the NS Pittsburgh Line crosses the Susquehanna. See The Bridgeview’s web site at: http://bridgeviewbnb.com/ for more information or to make your reservation.
- Special rates for this event are $75 per night single occupancy or $90 per night double occupancy!
- Both rates include admission for one day to Harris Tower! (Add an additional $10 per person for both days.)
- Both rates are cash or check only. Credit cards will NOT be accepted for these special rates.

Have you been good this year? Maybe you should drop a hint to Santa that a day at Harris would make a nice stocking stuffer! Of course, a reservation for Cabin Fever Days would make a very special gift for that friend or relative who’s a railroad buff too!

To make your reservation for Harris Tower only, send an email to HarrisTower@verizon.net or phone Harris Line at 717-232-6221. Following an update on Chapter activities you’ll have an opportunity to leave a message.

To take advantage of the special rates at The Bridgeview (including admission to Harris Tower) send an email to bridgeviewbnb@yahoo.com or telephone 717-957-2438. Be sure to mention you’re booking a room for Cabin Fever Days!

Reservations are limited to avoid overcrowding, so be sure to book early!
We hope to see you at Harris Tower on February 12th and 13th!
