Job Description

Department: Maintenance Shop
Job Title: Master Welder
Supervisor: Superintendent of Operations/Maintenance
Salary Range: DOE

Job Summary:

Perform welding duties throughout the TSRR complex, as needed, including repair and fabrication on rolling stock, track and structures. Must be able to obtain a TSRR ASME 6G Welding Test Certificate within 30 days of employment to retain continued employment with TSRR.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Repair steam engine boilers, boiler systems & related equipment per FRA
specifications.
• Repair, fabricate, assemble and modify parts or components on steam engines
and coaches as required.
• Use of shop machines including electric & gas welding equipment, acetylene &
plasma torches, grinders, power saws, drills/punches, shears & metal
shears/brakes.
• Safely & effectively use jacks, hoist and forklifts to lift and move material.

Work Experience/Education/Other Requirements:

• Minimum of three years of verifiable welding experience – boiler repair preferred.
• Must have been prior ASME 6G qualified.
• Must show a demonstrated proficiency in welding
techniques including gas, brazing, SMAW, MIG & TIG. On site test could be
required. Verifiable past work experience as a certified welder.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must have physical ability/agility to climb, crawl, stoop and bend in the
performance of assigned task.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Available to work schedule other than Monday through Friday with off days other
than Saturday/Sunday.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read and communicate in English and interpret blueprints.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Valid Driver License with no restrictions.
• Must submit to a Drug Test and a Spirometry Breathing Test when hired.
• Must be able to work weekends.
• Other duties as assigned.
