The WW&F Railway Museum in Alna, Maine, is seeking 60-pound AREA switch frogs and points for No. 8 and larger switches in fair or better than fair condition. Please reply to me with condition, price and location.

Thanks -- Wayne Laepple

They have a real geographic disadvantage, but Harmer Steel in Portland! OR can help you if you strike out with more local sources.

It would seem that many of the narrow gauge operations will eventually be in the market for lighter weight section rail. Does anybody roll rail under 90 lb anymore?

Howard -- Thanks but no thanks. We were given a bunch of 75# rail a few years ago, but decided to stick with 60# for the main line and 50# and 40# for sidings. We traded the 75# for 60#.

Bob -- I'll have to give Harmer a call and see what they have. A couple of frogs by motor freight might be workable.

Mike -- The Welsh Highland in Wales got all new welded 60# rail rolled in Poland, so I guess it's available if one wants to pay for it.

Actually, our usual supplier, Kovalchick Salvage Co., has lots of 60# rail on the yard, but no switch material to speak of.

Thanks -- Wayne
