Youngstown Steel Heritage Foundation owns a GE 80 tonner that is being deaccessioned from our collection. It was built in July, 1944, serial No. 27567 for the Genesee & Wyoming as their No. 20. This also happens to have been their first diesel locomotive. The locomotive is in amazing condition bodywise having practically no rust. It has Cummins LI 600 engines. One engine is not complete, the other needs a new connecting rod bearing to make it operable.

We are offering this locomotive for $10,000 which is under its scrap value. Due to its historic significance we would rather see it preserved not scrapped, but if not sold soon it may be dismantled. It is located in McDonald, OH at Larry's Truck Electric. LTE has never owned this locomotive. It was owned by another tenant in the same complex and got trapped at the rear end of one of their storage tracks. The owner would have to work with LTE to get it dug out and spotted for loading onto a flatcar for shipment out. LTE is not charging for storage space. If interested please send me a PM.

By the way, I may have a source for a replacement LI-600 engine for this locomotive.

Some background info. on this unit on the G&W:

Hi Rick - we have way too many dead critters right now, but we need to make a couple live again. If nobody takes it, we could scavenge parts, but I'd hate to see it go that way. How about those spare engines?
