I'm restoring a UP Caboose with sash windows! I'm needing a source for the window u-channel where the frame operates. Old classic cars used a similar type but not close to what I need. A lot of rail-cars used this same type, with black bristle in a steel channel.

Thanks for looking!

Stuff was called schlegel strip (or something like that) Problem is that the old automobile version has the bristles inside the U, and if the windows are Adlakes, the bristles are outside of the U. I ended up cleaning all of the old stuff out, and importing a courdoroy material used for the same function in Jaguar restoration in the UK

Would have to do some digging, as it was nine years ago. We bought enough that it did a second caboose in Owosso after mine.

Warning: this stuff is essential. If you do not have it the windows rattle enough that the latches may let go and the window becomes a guillotine.

Steve,

Thank you for posting, anything your willing to share would be greatly appreciated! I went the auto route with Steele Rubber Seal Co. as the have everything for the automobile restoration but nothing like what we needed!
