1945 or 1947 C&O Ry Fairmont Motorcar number 1152 For Sale...
Used on C&O's Canadian line in Southern Ontario.
I have a copy of the original build sheet and manual somewhere - will have to find it!
Was built and shipped to Fairmont Railway Motors Canada. Sold from there to C&O.
RO-C motor is the original motor for this car as per build sheet.
Car has all original equipment - side curtains, front vents, rear window panel, starting crank, steel front/roof as per build sheet.
Only thing I know is missing is the bell.
All window glass in excellent condition.
Body in very good condition - some dents and surface rust but no rust through.
Wheels seem to be in good condition.
I have owned this car for about 12 years - has always been stored inside.
I have never even started the car, but the previous owner apparently had used it about 5 years before I got it.
Previous owner was C&O track supervisor, canada division.
Don't need to sell it, but would like to clear out some space in the barn to set up shop.

Make me a reasonable offer and we can talk....

Located 35 minutes west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Thanks for looking!
Peter

Shrub -

If #1152 was sent to Fairmont in Canada and then sold by them to the C&O, then the 1945 date is probably not possible. In 1945 the Canadian line was still part of the Pere Marquette, and operated as such. I am not sure exactly when the PM was formally merged into the C&O proper, but I believe it was 1947. So if the car was sold to the C&O for their Canada operation, then 1947 is the more likely date.

Looks like a very nice car. Wish I had a few extra bucks!

Hi Les,
Thanks for pointing out the PM / C&O merger date info - I never even thought about what year that merger had occurred. If it is a 1945 car, then maybe it is originally PM... I will definately have to look for the build sheet.
I was really impressed with Harsco for still having the build sheets for these old cars.... was pleasantly surprised to see that the motor in the car is the original one (based on the serial numbers). I would have thought that over the years these motors would have been swapped out between cars as repairs/rebuilds were required.

Hi Gang,
As suggested by Les, the speeder was made in 1947. I found, and have attached the build sheet for your reading enjoyment!
Thanks,
Peter

Did you ever sell this C&O motorcar?

Hi COcab903277,
The motorcar is still available... it's no longer in the barn... now it is taking up space in my garage much to my wife's dissapointment (she doesn't have a parking space indoors!)
If you or someone you know are interested, please contact me via pm.
Thanks,
Peter
