FOR SALE: 1912 Oporto, Portugal streetcar built by the J.G. Brill Co. This car is located in Surrey, B.C. Canada. The streetcar recently became the property of the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society (FVHRS), but does not fit within the collection policy of the FVHRS.
The car came to Canada in 1988 and has had some restoration done to it, but has had a number of years, totaling approximately 10 years, outside with and without a tarp; however, the FVHRS has been storing it inside for the past 2 ½ years for the previous owners.
The exterior wood needs some TLC, but the interior wood is in very decent shape. All the windows are intact. The trolley base and pole have been removed from the roof and are stored in car. The rattan seats were re-done years ago but required cleaning and in one seat mold is seen. The two “pilots” are stored under the car.
Currently it is called Car 30 and has the lettering of the British Columbia Electric Railway on the sides. The exterior colour scheme is also British Columbia Electric Railway.
The FVHRS is soliciting offers for the streetcar on a “as is” “where is” basis. The purchaser would be responsible for all transportation costs and/or any border fees if moved outside Canada.
