Post subject:  Metropolitan injectors and Eames vacuum brakes

Anybody out there have any technical information on Metropolitan injectors? Looking for info such as taper of nozzle and so forth in particular. Also interested in purchasing injectors for on-going operation and restoration of two locomotives fitted with these units. Currently have one of each of the following: 8-1/2 G, 8 N, 6-1/2 O and 5-1/2 O.

Eames vacuum brake -- seeking any information on this equipment, again for an on-going restoration of a locomotive.

Finally, reports are that Mr. Eames was working on a vacuum version of an automatic brake. Anyone know about this?

Thanks for your help.

I'll dig through the stacks in the basement. I have done a bit of work on Metropolitan guns. Not sure if I have any details, though.

I've only got basic information about their construction (cutaway side views with no dimensions) and advice on how to operate them available. I will copy them if they would be useful to you.

Good luck on the Eames brake.....it never caught on much here.

It is my impression that an intact set of Eames vacuum brakes are on the Mammoth Cave RR "Hercules" and passenger car at Mammoth Cave National Park. I think the 3' gauge PRR 4-6-0 in SW PA at a county historical society also has an Eames system intact.
Good luck.
