Sounds like a case of "people like it where it's at"......I've lost count of the number of times I've inquired about cars, trucks,etc,etc.......and the owners are very attached to them, won't part with them for anything....and ultimately the item gets scrapped, usually after the person dies, gov't admin change, etc....

I know of about 4 Birney bodies, at least 1 of which may be available.

Contact Paul Class of the Streetcar Investment Group in Willits, CA.
He has a number of Portuguese single-truck cars that are available for sale, various gauges including standard. Some are fully rebuilt, ready to roll.

These are not Birneys but are single-truck cars largely based on earlier Brill designs.
When non-rail people ask for a Birney, they often just mean any older looking, single-trucker.
