Looking for a manufacturer to contact for conductors caps.

You might try Transquip. The owner Earl Johnston passed away about a year ago, but his wife Jean is in the process of shutting the operation down. She may have conductors caps left, you've have to ask her of course.

I recently placed an order with Transquip a couple weeks ago. I learned from Mrs. Johnston that she has few caps left, mostly in the larger sizes. I think I bought the last size 7 1/4. You may need to call a couple of times but she is very prompt in shipping. You can try Gifts for Rails website which offers winter and summer mesh style. I used to buy from Yorkis Railway Supplies but have been unable to contact them in the past few years. Just about the last few manufacturers are Keystone Uniform Cap and Midway Cap Companies, but I think they both have minimum orders.

William Scully Ltd. in Montreal still makes traditional trainman/conductors caps inc. with mesh option. They also offer custom lettering for your railway. They will make one only if that is all you want. Not cheap but authentic. 514-527-9333

With the Canadian dollar at 75 cents US you will get a bargain!

Anyone know of a manufacturer who still makes summer hats/caps using real wicker or can instead of the faux versions in plastic?

I bought a Southern Pacific style summer cap with wicker in the 70's from Schneider's Hub in Oakland, CA, but they went out of business long ago. I believe Lancaster Uniform Cap Company in Los Angeles may have also produced similar caps, but sadly they also went out of business in 2013.

I have attached a view of some conductors caps from Disneyland. I am looking to find someone to reproduce the one on the right as used on the Santa Fe & Disneyland in 1955.

Several months ago I went searching on the web for traditional railroad style caps and turned up this website:

Miller Uniform Hats

It lists a conductor style cap in standard hat sizes.

It also has hickory strip caps (both USA and China made) in standard sizes.

I have never done business with this firm -- so, I cannot say anything about the product or the service.

I have bought (and used to death) a couple of blue denim engineer's caps. They are good quality stuff made in the You Ess of Aye....

Miller Hats is located in Houston, TX and is a family operation. Very nice people and worth a visit if you are in the Houston area. Having been to their store, I found everything there of excellent quality and bought several hats of various types.
