RAILROAD PASSENGER CAR MECHANIC/CARMAN WANTED!

East Tennessee Rail Car Services, Inc. (ETRC) is now hiring a Passenger Car Mechanic to support our growing passenger car repair business.


General:

* Position is full time based out of Oak Ridge, TN.
* Pay negotiable varies with the skills you bring, but generally $15 per hour and up.
* Paid vacation after one year.
* Paid Holidays
* Frequent overtime.
* Advancement potential.
* Need a strong general mechanical background.
* Will be working with/supporting existing personnel/management to grow this aspect of our business as well as maintain/upgrade our own equipment
* A strong skill set with previous passenger car experience is highly desirable. However we will consider training the right individual.


Requirements:

* High School diploma or equivalent
* Valid driver's license -- CDL preferred but not required
* Strong attention to detail. This work is equal parts pretty and functional. Much of it is on "Antique" equipment being built between 1910 and 1960.
* Good general "Maintenance Mechanic" type skills.
* The ability to perform detail work taking patience and skill when necessary.
* Ability to use hand tools -- drill, grinder, taps and dies, tape measure, etc.
* Primary focus is passenger cars and related work, however there may be periodic assignments to our other rail car and locomotive type work.
* Good understanding of pneumatics
* Good understanding of electricity
* Good understanding of HVAC systems and concepts.
* Ability to travel
* Mostly outdoor work
* Occasional emergency call out
* Ability to be flexible on work assignments
* Strong attention to safety in an industrial environment

*****Must pass a drug test! NO, YOU CAN'T HAVE A WEEK TO STUDY FOR IT AND TAKE IT AGAIN.*****


Other Helpful Skills -- not required:

* Experience with Rail Car Air Brakes -- maintenance, repair, and testing
* Experience with Passenger Car Head End Power -- operation and installation
* Experience with Passenger Car trucks, wheels and suspension.
* Welding skills, especially Stainless and Aluminum -- TIG
* Supervisor skills

It would be helpful to list location and the actual name of your organization- not everyone knows the abbreviations. I would guess it isn't the European Truck Racing Championship, which is what you get with ETRC in google.

Fair enough. East Tennessee Rail Car Services, Inc. is ETRC. If you look at the first line under "General" you'll note that we did mention where we were located. I trust that most folks would reach the same conclusion you did and suspect that the European Truck Racing Championship is not likely to be advertising for Passenger Car Mechanics on RYPN.
