Earlier this year we acquired a model HA Payloader, thinking that it would be useful in moving coal and ballast on the narrow gauge. It turns out that we need a backhoe on site, and since it can do what the Payloader can, it is time to find it a new home.

The Payloader runs and I have used it for loading our ballast cars as recently as last Saturday, however it's engine does need rebuilt to make it a reliable runner. 4 cylinder Waukesha gas engine. It is certainly an ex N&W machine as evidenced by the brass N&W RY. equipment ID tag on the left side.

This is a video of using it loading ballast this past spring.

$750 or trade.

Rick, where I've never seen or heard of one of these until today, what is it basically? Looks almost like it's the size of a lawn tractor that someone threw a bucket on... What's the use for it?

Basically its a forklift with a bucket instead of forks & mast, designed to go into tight places like Boxcars and Graineries. IIRC, a lot of DoTs used the larger version for the winter sand/salt loading.
