Post subject:  For Sale: UP/GN/CNJ “Jersey Builder” Coaches

United Railroad Historical Society of NJ is listing for sale three of our “Jersey Builder” coaches. These are known to us Jersey folk as “Jersey Builders” because their GN Empire Builder Heritage, and many ran in their original paint after CNJ purchased them in the 70s. They were refitted with the commuter seats they have now and were donated to URHS in the 90s.

URHS had these cars rehabilitated for excursions and they are equipped with Hatz diesel generators. Half of the cars got generators, and each has the capability of powering one other car. In this case, 327 and 333 are powered and 326 would run off of one of the others.

The cars are in good shape, and two of the three are near-ready to go. 326 needs some interior work. They will make people-haulers on any tourist railroad, and would be great for high-capacity Polar Express trains. They are a blank slate for any paint scheme.

We are selling them only because they are not core to our collection, and we have a huge surplus of passenger equipment here at URHS. Three of these cars will still stay preserved with our collection here in NJ.

Listings and contact info can be found at the following links. Inquiries can be sent to Ozark Mountian Railcar directly, but I’m happy to answer questions!
