From Greg in Australia. Was at the De Goyer Library in Dallas 10 weeks ago. I am Investigating the 2ft 6 in Baldwin locos that were built for the Victorian Government Railways. I was Showen Specification Book 1897-8 BLW 21 Page 190&191. The Information was Date 3/17.1898 For Government of Victoria Class10 20 1/4 D No1 Memorandum Spe No 4218. This book Had the locos that were ordered and built by date. Question Was there a book were enquiry were made and entered and a quotation to build before the purchaser ok ed a build. |

You may have an easier time locally searching the archives of VR. I'd expect any correspondence with BLW to have been retained, and the trip is much shorter for you to lay hands on it. |

The Victorian Rail groups that I belong to have been through the Victorian Government and the Victorian Government archives that are held in a big Archives building in North Melbourne. What I was shown which on groups in Australia had any Knowledge of was Baldwin Proposed Locomotives for Australian Railways. Ie South Australian Railways were quoted on 2 different types of Mallet locos for 5ft 3 in g Greg |
