Well, another truly inspirational note has been added to www.steamlocomotive.info and I thought I would share it with you. It referred to New York Elevated Railway 0-4-4T No. 21 which we list as being located on the east side of the river near Solomon, AK which is not too distant from Nome. The note read as follows:

Quote:
obviously you have no comprehenion where this accually are .....check out nome Ak ...visit ak and youll understand better!

The "village" of Solomon has a population of 4, the locomotive, which near Nome is properly located in Solomon. Apparently my lake of "comprehenion" does affect me though as I had a hard time parsing his phrase "where this accually are".

Sheesh.

If you don't have anything nice to say, say it on the internet. :/

Well, at least you can get there by road, in a competent vehicle, at least part of the year... and in near total wilderness, 37.4 miles isn't that far! I think you "comprehen" perfectly well, LOL...

From Google:

Suggested routes

37.4 mi, 1 hour 32 mins
Nome-Council Rd

Driving directions to Solomon 3D

Nome, AK
USA
1. Head northwest on Tobuk Alley toward Bering St 236 ft
2. Take the 1st left onto Bering St 0.3 mi
3. Turn left onto Front St 1.1 mi
4. Continue onto Nome-Council Rd
This road may be seasonally closed

It still seems like an awful shame for three of those engines to be rusting away like that- they might be in a historically appropriate location, but New York City would be just as appropriate spot for at least one, better yet two!
