You beat me to it!! I'll delete mine then. But out of curiosity, what will Pomona be getting in return? Anybody know? Mike S. |

1.) I must save for a trip out west. 2.) Must add things to bucket list, several have been crossed off (steam on horseshoe) and a couple threaten to be (611, 4014), don't want to tempt fate. Maybe I'll pick something really ridiculous, like see a Concord fly again. and now, back to the happy happy joy joy thing. |

OK let me go back and find all those posts where the "experts" claimed profusely that the UP would never return a Big Boy to operation. |

I don't know if I ever uttered it publicly, but I'd have bet my backside on never and man, and I sure love being wrong. I'll have the extra large serving of crow now. No problem eating that when dessert is this theobroma. |

I'm not sure we're there yet -- key words in the PR are 'operating condition' and then comes the question, where could the run (and turn) it? Bob H |

Ronald Reagan's statement "Never say Never" keeps being true. I've got to update my bucket list! Since U.P. is getting the 4014 I'm sure that things will start happening soon. Could this be the year when 2 Big Boys ride the rails again? 4014 & 4018. Don't the fellas in Pomona have the brakes working on the engine already? Alan W. |

I never thought it would happen. Good for them. I hope they get all the support from every one to make it work. |

...and in other news the temperature in Hell today dropped to near 32ยบ fahrenheit. #4018 is not being restored, but she is "riding the (mainline) rails" on her way to the new museum in Frisco, TX. |

Quote: John Mastrobuoni from Prescott, Ariz., said the Southern California Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society is eager to find out if the railroad can meet its requirement that a replacement piece take the place of the Big Boy at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona. Any thoughts on which locomotive might replace 4014 at Pomona? |
