On some websites, that photo would have a "caption this" challenge.

e.g.: "We came back from beans and this is what we found"
"I told you we shouldn't have tied down in that neighborhood!"
"Make offer. Some assembly required."

And: U-boat fans may be relieved to know that SP U25-B 3100 is preserved in running order at Orange Empire in Perris CA (oerm.org).

Very sad; unless the wheels and motors were trash, I'm sure I could have found a good use for those trucks. Same with the 44 tonner(s) that got cut up recently...

Bad wheels are often a deal breaker when used locomotives are being evaluated. Railroads and regulators are a lot stricter than they were 50 years ago when it comes to what will be allowed to run on its own wheels.
