This turned up on my Facebook page. The primary subject is the vintage motor vehicles, but check out the location and background!

Those are L&N hoppers in charge of the tank engine; is it possible someone might be able to identify the location?

Not rail related, but the car, clothes, and hats remind me that I live in the wrong time (although I have to admit my skin is a bit light to have been able to hang out with these fellows in the period of the photo. . .too bad, they look like they were a cool bunch):

Looking a little more on the "Powerglide" page, I came across this:

Looks like a Lake Michigan boat; can she be identified?

Streamlined glamour:

Are park trains "real" trains?

I think we can guess this location as Oakland, Ca.:

Have fun.

At the Ford River Rouge plant in 1965; check out the Alco:

I'm not positive, but this looks like it could be Philadelphia:

I've blown this one up, and it looks like it might be on the Western Maryland, but where?

We'll close out with a look at some more General Motors products:

I am having fun with these.

The lake boat is Pere Marquette 21. Even though its been many years that does not look like the way I remember Ludington so I think that the picture is at Milwaukee.

The street trackage looks more like the Western Pacific's back alley entrance to Sacramento than Oakland

Thanks

GME

Powerglide continues to have rail subjects as part of its vintage series--and one of those photos is this one, of the famous pile of Pacific Electric cars awaiting scrapping.

This is from a different angle than what we have normally seen.

Ah--the infamous Terminal Island streetcar stack. If you look closely, you'll notice that most of the air whistles are missing. One of the local "oral traditions" among PE fans is that the scrapper (National Metals?) lost money on the job because the Hollywood cars had concrete floors, which made the salvage process more difficult.
