-Train News Wire Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari confirmed today that Amtrak is planning on restoring a GG1 locomotive for it's heritage train to run on the Northeast Corridor. According to a source who works in the Bear DE shops for Amtrak and wishes to remain anonymous said that they plan on restoring the GG1 with parts from their soon to be surplus AEM7 fleet. "Using the original electronics is out of the question since they contain PCB's" the source stated. Amtrak has said that starting next month they will take votes on how to paint the locomotive. "The GG1 played an important part of history for Amtrak and we hope to show that history by bringing one back to the rails." said Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari. The time table for restoration has been stated as anywhere from one and a half to two years.

It's from TRAINS Newswire so it has to be true!

All in good fun...

Today, I think to really pull off "a good one" you need fake links that work, pics and such, but still... fun. I'm glad to see no one tacking on April Fool's jokes onto existing threads.

That's the problem with April Fools now on the Internet. Instead of things actually fooling people it's just a bunch of people who think they are funny but really aren't. I'm glad TO banned fake posts this year.

yeah, when its the 16th year in a row on this forum, it's SO predictable that any attempt comes off as just boring and lame..railfan forums are just too jaded and burned out on april fools now.
