With any forum, there are going to be those topics which come up again and again. The regulars will reply with witty stuff that only makes sense to other regulars.
But anyone new to this forum won't have a clue what any of these replies are for.
Maybe in a FAQ, there could be a list of some of these and a very basic explaination of the issues?
Just a thought as I'm sure there are people looking at this thread and others like it, completely clueless...

"completely clueless"

Clueless is as clueless does. And in this instance, clueless just might be bliss.

That's why there is a search feature on this forum.

For the uninitiated:

Keyword: "Riffin."

(Wait, does anyone still use the term "keyword" except AOL and databases constructed in AOL days?)

Could there be a FAQ like thread somewhere that goes over specific topics, so if someone sees the "Inside baseball" style comments and has no clue, they could look at such a thread, which would be updated only by admins?
Just wondering, as every forum has stuff like that, topics that come up every now and then that only the people at the forum all the time understand the jokes...

Two more documents posted on the STB's website:
Docket Number AB_156_27_X, Petition To Revoke Exemption, July 15, 2015
and
Docket Number FD_35873_0, Notice of Court Action, July 16, 2015

Will there ever be a chance that the STB can just say they will never accept any motions or filings from this looney ever again? He will not give up.

Really? The STB lost it's authority in the matter after this loony filed a petition for review on the 30th of December? And his company doesn't have diddly squat to do with NS buying the south end of the D&H? Someone tell this guy to take a hike and quit wasting time...

Jim, Dylan,

While I tend to sympathize with your point of view here, as do many other practitioners, they simply cannot do it.

This goes all the way back to the English House of Commons resolution of 1669 asserting the inherent right of every Commoner to prepare and present petitions and the Bill of Rights of 1689 which further declared that prosecutions and commitments for presenting such petitions to be illegal.

In the late 1770s and early 1780s there was a bit of a kerfuffle in what was then British North America when a group of British Subjects, denied this right among others by a German speaking King, rebelled in order to assert their rights as Englishmen.

Out of this came the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, which states in part that the right to petition shall not be infringed. While the Board can (as various Courts have) hold these guys in contempt (There is no authority for penalties at the STB so this is almost meaningless in that venue) or insist on competent counsel, they cannot simply bar the door.

Wait, "kerfuffle" is okay, but you question my use of the term "argle-bargle"?

Yes, GME is correct, we all have the right to petition our government, have open access to our courts, and file claims with and without merit.

Dylan,
The STB did not loose it's authority. A decision was appealed. The Board retains its jurisdiction and as far as I know no stays have been issued. The proceedings will simply continue while the court decides that, excuse me, if the Board acted properly.

How long do these sorts of proceedings take? Apparently it's still going on...
