Post subject: | Steam Whistle Enthusiasts: Rutland Railway Whistles? |
I found this video awhile ago on Youtube...called "Green Mountain Railroading on the Rutland" by Blackhawk Films. https://youtu.be/bkWxJUgzMYo I've watched it a number of times, and I believe the audio is actually recorded on-scene, and not merely dubbed. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me identify what kinds of whistles the engines are sporting in the video. There's a clip of a 4-8-2 at 2:52 to 3:10, as well as a 4-6-0 at 6:21 to 6:34 that appear to be sporting the same kind of whistle. Can any of you guys with a good ear make out how many notes are being blown in these two clips? To MY ears, I feel like it's a 5 chime whistle. My friend says it sounds more like a 3 chime, but I swear I hear more than 3 notes in there. Could be an exercise in futility, but I love steam whistles and always enjoy finding uniquely tuned whistles from not-so-famous railroads from back in the day. |
