According to their website www.pichirichirailway.org.au she passed her steam trials in April 2015 and they expected her to be running revenue in 12 months. So she will soon be plying the rails again.

Brits have one (ex-GW I think) that is a wooden coach approved for operation on Network Rail. Only restriction is that it cannot carry passengers when operating on the main line-intent is to allow it to ferry between operating venues.

It has worked some passenger specials on Network Rail lines - but only branch lines with no other traffic operating on them at the same time.

There is a Petrol(Gas)-Electric railcar from the North Eastern Railway dating from 1903 which is also undergoing restoration elsewhere at the moment and wil provide an interesting contrast with the steam version. Not sure if they intend this to be able to be used on the main line though.
