As far as I have heard, the 844 runs went off without encountering any significant problems.

What is the reaction to this event at RYPN?

Since the middle of July, 2 more employees have resigned.

Brings the crew turnover for the last 6 years to well over 220%.

No.

In spite of all the blather a year or two ago, there was NO QMS in force, especially not 6-Sigma.

I disagree.

Qualifications: Having a BBA, AS Railroad Operations, worked in the UP steam shop as a contractor for 5 years, interaction with UP corporate while leading the cosmetic restoration of 4023, experience with the UP management trainee program, as well as currently being a steam engine technical advisor for the largest oil and gas company in the world - and finally, having stopped by the steam shop last year, spoken to the man and seen it for myself.

It is highly unlikely, in my world, that drilling holes in staybolt caps to look for the telltale holes, ordering flues and tubes too short and specifying incorrect swedging diameter, not to mention sawing cab signal/ATC system cables in two rather than simply disconnecting them, qualifies as 6-Sygma.

Photos and videos posted on the unofficial UP steam facebook page, which is aided by the program manager,l though it is not a UP-site, per se.

There are also interviews with the manager and staff confirming these "claims", as you put them.

None of this is news, not is it secret. Little on this subject ends up on RyPN because it usually ends up with the thread being locked.
