I just saw a commercial on TV for a law firm. The ad was specifically targeting railroad workers. I would have thought that a modern diesel locomotive would have been shown--not the steam locomotive that was featured. I wonder if they think most trains are still steam powered?

You're probably right, but steam mostly ended for major railroads in the 50s along with the use of asbestos for lagging. That would mean their target audience with locomotive asbestos exposure would be in their late 80s or 90s--not a very large pool. Today's steam locomotives use other insulating material. Speaking of mesothelioma, my neighbor died from it last year. He had worked in the construction industry and remembers sometimes looking like a snowman at the end of the day when he was working on ground level and workers were spraying asbestos in roof areas. As a matter of fact, my father was a mechanic and I can remember helping him with brake jobs and I would take an airgun and blow the asbestos dust out of the brake drums before putting new brake shoes on (no disc brakes back then).
