Post subject: | 1930's dust bowl and railroading |
Hi, I saw a program about the 1930's era dust bowl and the changing weather patterns that caused the top soil to become huge dust storms that would sometimes make it to the Atlantic Ocean. It dawned on me that these dust storms would black out the area they were in and concequently effect railroad operations also - Mostly in the effected area (CO, TX, NM. OK, KS). Does anyone know about stories of the effects on railroad operations? I suspect SP, AT&SF, T&P, Rock Island, and other lines in the area would have been effected the most. Doug vV |
