Do you have unlimited funding? Would you like to purchase what may well be the most historic railroad in the United States? Well, now's your chance!

Quote:
CSX Transportation is reviewing 8,000 miles of rail lines as potential candidates for sale or lease, Trains News Wire has learned.

Routes under review include:
The former B&O from Greenwich, Ohio, to Baltimore.

It doesn't get much more historic than the original B&O mainline...

Get your GoFundMe going today folks, as this may take a fair chunk of change!

I presume that a regional would acquire this, but really, who knows any more?

I don't have a map or old Official Guide handy, but could this actually be Baltimore, Ohio?

Reminds me of "The Train to Morrow" (Ohio, used to be on the Pennsy):

That stretch of railroad has been removed from the list of lines potentially for sale.

Where can one find the list of lines under consideration for deaccession?

If the bulk of this trackage is concentrated, it presages the notion of another "Class I" rail entity being created...

Man, the B&O Railroad Museum could by some of that up and use that for longer excursions than the one mile trip they currently offer! That would also give them the opportunity to restore one of their larger Steam Locomotives!
