Well... I've sourced out several places from which I can obtain Bituminous coal in small quantities or large, as close as Pennsylvania or as far away as Missouri. I've already tested out a few samples in my potbelly stove. Within a week or 10 days the final results will be in.
I hope to announce some very good news for those who desire to purchase soft coal of quality for specific needs by mid - April. Stay tuned.

John,
Check your local Yellow Pages either online or paper version for coal dealers. Most people don't think to do that nowadays. Dealers still sell bagged and bulk coal.

That may be true that the Yellow Pages are a good place to start looking for just about anything. We have lots of coal dealers selling coal around my area, however after an exhaustive search all that turned up I was Anthracite " Hard Coal ", what little Bituminous there was to be found anywhere turned out to be so small it fell through the grates of my stove, " Shelled Pecan size , Lima Beans ", it even had great difficulty igniting after being carefully laid on a hot bed of deep glowing hardwood coals.
I took some outside and dumped diesel fuel on a pile of it and all that happened was the fuel burned & the coal sat there like a pile of crap. No wonder the pile the dealer was gathering it from was covered in green mold. I promptly took the remainder of it after everything cooled down and put it out for the trash truck.
More on this topic after I return from my trip out to coal country. Give me a week - 10 days, lots of driving to do.

Sorry folks, lousy weather keeps wrecking plans to travel to Pennsylvania area. The storms just keep rolling through the Northeast. The rain, snow, icy roads and crazy drivers make a mess of things. Looks like nicer weather is set to start about mid - month. Expect to hear my announcements in 7-10 days. Thanks.

Well finally a window of opportunity has arrived, no Dr. appts, all caught up with work and finally it looks like the weather window will be favorable at both ends of my travels so I can enjoy the scenery. Between storms, snow out in Pennsylvania, here as well, nice weather has arrived. Those 10 day extended forecasts can get messed up pretty quick. Looks like I'll be gone the first week of May. Several stops planned, look forward to seeing coal country. So unless a big storm comes out of nowhere, looks like a go.
After I return, I'll be making a major announcement..... stay tuned.
